Laurent Francioli is a senior research scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, California. Prior to joining Vertex, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in Daniel MacArthur’s lab at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute. He has a Master’s degree in computer science from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland) and a doctorate in genetics from the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands). Laurent’s academic work focused on aggregating large-scale genome sequencing data to empower our understanding of the selection acting on the genetic variation in the population. Notably, he played key roles in the Genome of the Netherlands project and the Genome Aggregation Database (gnomAD).
