GINGER Program and Fellows Present at the 2023 World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics in Montreal – October 2023


From October 10–14, GINGER Fellows and team members participated in the 2023 World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics (WCPG) held in Montreal, Canada.
Fellows Barkot Milkias and Megan Campbell presented on behalf of the GINGER cohort during a GINGER-led symposium titled “Beyond Borders: Integrating Training and Research for Scientific Excellence and Global Equity.” The session explored strategies for strengthening the integration of training and research to advance scientific capacity and promote global equity in psychiatric genetics.The symposium featured a presentation by Dr. Lori Chibnik, GINGER Principal Investigator, on lessons learned in research capacity building. Fellows also presented findings from two of three GINGER phenotype data papers, highlighting progress in collaborative data analysis efforts. GINGER was joined by Marco Sanabrais of NeuroMEX, who presented original research, and Dr. Paola Giusti-Rodríguez of the Ancestral Populations Network and the University of Florida, who served as moderator.
The third phenotype data paper was presented as a poster by Fellows Mary Mufford and Patricia Kipkemoi, further showcasing the breadth of research contributions emerging from the GINGER community.
